Terms of Service
The agreement between you and SafeShare.
Last updated: 18 June 2026
1. Acceptance of these terms
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of SafeShare (“SafeShare”, “we”, “us”, or “our”), available at safeshare.au. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use SafeShare.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to use SafeShare. The service is intended for use in connection with share-housing in Australia.
3. What SafeShare is — and isn't
SafeShare is a trust utility that helps listers and tenants who have found each other manage the practical parts of share-housing: verifying identity, signing a flatmate agreement, protecting a bond, and automating rent.
SafeShare is not a real estate agent, property manager, letting agent, or landlord, and is not a party to any tenancy or flatmate agreement between users. You are responsible for complying with the residential tenancy and boarding/lodging laws of your state or territory. SafeShare does not provide legal, financial, or tax advice.
4. Your account
- Provide accurate information and keep it up to date.
- Keep your login credentials secure and don't share your account.
- You're responsible for activity that happens under your account.
- Tell us promptly through our contact form if you suspect unauthorised access.
5. Identity verification
Some features require you to verify your identity through our provider (Stripe Identity). You agree to provide genuine, accurate documents. We may limit, suspend, or remove accounts where verification fails or where we reasonably suspect fraud or misuse.
6. Listings, content, and conduct
- You must have the right to list a room or property you advertise, and your listings must be accurate.
- You must not discriminate unlawfully, harass other users, or post false, misleading, or unlawful content.
- You retain ownership of content you submit, and grant SafeShare a licence to host and display it to operate the service.
- We may remove content or suspend accounts that breach these Terms or the law.
7. Fees and payments
Our pricing is simple and transparent:
- Free to list — listing rooms, inviting flatmates, and sending agreements cost nothing.
- $2 per week, per room — charged only while a room has an active, managed tenancy.
- 1.5% bond protection fee — a one-off fee applied when a bond is processed.
- Free rent collection — collecting rent by bank debit costs nothing.
Payments are processed by Stripe. By providing payment details you authorise the applicable charges. Fees are inclusive of GST where it applies. We may change our fees with reasonable notice; changes do not apply retroactively. See the pricing page for the current details.
8. Bond and rent handling
Where you use our bond protection and rent collection features, funds are processed and held via our payment partner in accordance with applicable rules. SafeShare facilitates these flows but is not a deposit-taking institution. You remain responsible for your obligations under your tenancy and applicable bond authority requirements.
9. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use SafeShare for any unlawful, fraudulent, or harmful purpose.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the service or other users' accounts.
- Interfere with, disrupt, or place undue load on the service or its infrastructure.
- Scrape, copy, or misuse other users' personal information.
10. Third-party services
SafeShare relies on third parties (such as Stripe, Convex, Google, and AWS) and may link to third-party sites. We are not responsible for the content or practices of third parties, and your use of them may be subject to their own terms.
11. Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by law, SafeShare is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will meet your requirements.
12. Australian Consumer Law
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any guarantee, right, or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or other laws that cannot be lawfully excluded. Where our liability for breach of a non-excludable guarantee can be limited, it is limited to re-supplying the service or paying the cost of re-supply.
13. Limitation of liability
Subject to section 12, SafeShare is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses, or for loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the service. Our total liability arising out of or related to the service is limited to the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.
14. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify SafeShare against claims, losses, and costs arising from your breach of these Terms, your content, or your unlawful use of the service, to the extent permitted by law.
15. Suspension and termination
You may stop using SafeShare at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, if required by law, or to protect the service or other users. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will do so.
16. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Australia and the state or territory in which SafeShare operates, and you submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of its courts.
17. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
